The ostrich farm is located in picturesque foothills of the Zailijsky Alatau mountains in 55 km from Almaty. The territory of the farm is 120 hectares. Alfalfa, rye, corn, wheat, vegetables and apples are raised to feed ostriches.
In 2001 for the first time in Central Asia 200 African baby ostriches were delivered from Belgium to Farm Fauna. They were only 2-7 days old! Farm specialists managed to breed them and got adapted to Kazakhstan’s cold, windy winters (- 28 in Celsius) and local food. According to ostrich experts from Holland and Israel, the majority of Fauna flock conforms to world standards.
